Often times the best design solutions require the removal, rather than the addition, of work. This was the case with the 110 year old house where years of neglect poor design decisions had reduced this dwelling to an uninviting and generally sad place. The new owners wanted to make the combined kitchen, porch, dining areas the “Hearth” of the house while addressing the upper floors and master suite as well.
Originally from Connecticut and England, the clients also asked to have their new home bridge their architectural traditions with clean, crisp lines and a new porch on the rear to extend the party outside. The master bedroom suite was created on the 3rd floor under a 1.5 story space with copious custom cabinetry, walk-in shower, abundant natural lights throughout the day all with large windows facing directly on to the double park that the house fronts on.
