Having lived in their house for 18 years, raised a family there and endured the house’s idiosyncrasies, these clients decided it was time to exert some tough love on their home. After exploring several alternative layouts, a scheme emerged that maximized open and light filled spaces which were an antidote to the previous 18 years. On the 1st floor, a large airy kitchen and family room were added to the back of the house with generous connections back to the original structure. The floor plan was redesigned and a new wide entry hall was added as well as a new stair down to the large, comfortable TV room and full bath in the basement. The 2nd floor contains two large bedrooms, laundry area as well as a new master suite with high ceilings and dormer windows with transoms. The stage is set for the next chapter for this DC family.
