Situated on a landmark park in Washington, this notable Victorian home is as stately, reserved and magnificent as any in the region. The only problem was that some of the most frequently used rooms by these clients were in the poorest condition. There was abundant original detailing in the house to play off of and be absorbed in to this project. On the first floor, the kitchen, mud room, breakfast area were reinterpreted with a mix of traditional references as well as clean, modern components. The new spaces open up the first floor of the house and allow for easy entertaining by these ambitious cooks or everyday meals with the family. The material palette was intentionally kept visually quiet with soft, cool whites and blues to play off of the warmth of the natural wood floor and seating. Upstairs a guest suite was redone to host friends and family who come to enjoy the park life.
